Are you passionate about Aboriginal Health? Aboriginal people experience more life risk factors, poorer health and less acceptable outcomes in a range of life areas when compared to other South Australians. As a result Aboriginal people are among the most disadvantaged population groups in the community. SA Health is working to address the health inequities faced by Aboriginal people, reducing the gap in health outcomes between South Australia's Aboriginal people and the rest of South Australia's population.

As the Aboriginal Liaison team leader, you will be responsible for the liaison leadership and ongoing development of the Karpa Ngarrattendi Team to ensure culturally appropriate acute health care services are provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will be responsible for ensuring identification of health needs and concerns of Aboriginal people/communities which reflect the principles of social justice and equity by consultation, participation and advocacy in appropriate forums. You will contribute to the awareness and cooperation of health professionals, community groups and organisations, by liaison and consultation on the specific health and service needs.

You will be advocating, negotiating, liaising and co-ordinating with health, welfare and educational organisations and other government and non-government and local organisations to support the aims and objectives of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Equity Plan.
