**Where you'll be working**

Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital is a tertiary referral hospital, teaching hospital and community hospital featuring fifteen operating theatres, 550 adult beds and 101 paediatric beds. We are the busiest ED in the state and a major trauma centre for Northern NSW. **What you'll be doing**

Infectious Diseases Advanced Trainees provide a high standard of clinical care to Infectious Diseases inpatients, outpatients and consultation patients under the supervision of specialist Infectious Diseases physicians and Medical Microbiologists and in the context of fulfilling the requirements of the RACP for Advanced Training in Infectious Diseases. The role also includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to specialist departments.
Trainees will fulfil the service requirements of their Department, which may include attendance and participation in multidisciplinary meetings; clinical meetings; journal clubs, supervision and education of junior medical staff and active participation in antibiotic stewardship, infection control and/or ambulatory care programs. Each hospital will have differing service requirements reflecting the individual identity of each institution as well as the different populations (e.g. spinal or burns patients) and sub-specialities (e.g. hepatitis or HIV) accommodated at each of the different hospitals.
