Our IT operating model includes persistent business unit aligned teams who own design, build and run and optimize efficiency through automation. The model also has a number of teams that are part of a central function, who’s responsibilities include ensuring Co-op wide coverage and mindset that drives resilience, consistency and quality.

We're thrilled to announce the opening for a Data Engineering Self Service Lead vacancy within our team. In this role, you'll be reporting directly to our Data Platforms Manager, collaborating with our Data Engineering Lead, and partnering closely with our Business Analytics teams. Your key responsibility will be to cater to our Self-Service customers, who are typically citizen technologists operating within decentralized data analytics teams.

Key responsibilities will include:

- Ensure the FDP design, and engineering practices, supports both self-service workloads and the development of data products that can be reused, at scale, across Fonterra
- Ensure development of fit for purpose approaches that balance the need for business agility across analytics workloads with the enterprise ask for Data Products
- Directly support citizen data engineers (CDE’s) through fostering a community to encourage CDE’s to support each other in addressing contextualized business problems through data engineering practices
- Management of the process for CDE platform improvement requests including triage of initial ideas and representation of their asks to governance groups setting prioritization
- Act as a single point of contact for CDEs, and co-ordinate with other specialized resources (eg security, testing, support) to facilitate outcomes for the CDE community
- Assess and implement the appropriate balance of low code solutions to further enable CDE outcomes
- Leverage your deep and extensive data engineering background, our technology partners and current industry trends to ensure data engineering best practices are followed by citizen data engineers, and guide them on how to best prepare their data pipelines for productionisation in the FDP
- Serve as an advocate of the FDP, including providing key stakeholders with recommendations on how to best leverage it to serve their needs
- Provide clear inputs to the Data Engineering Lead to enable platform and process improvements to drive accelerated outcomes for CDE’s whist maintaining robustness where required.

**About you**

You will have demonstrated success in working within a large-scale analytics environment. You will be an excellent communicator and influencer and have a proven record of building and managing effective relationships with internal stakeholders.

Other attributes that may help you succeed in this role:

- 10 years + experience in data and analytics
- Sound knowledge of engineering processes, systems and methodologies required to enable analytics insights
- Proven communication skills (oral, written and influencing)
- Strong process and organization skills
- Well organized and willing / able to organize others
- Tertiary Qualification in IT / Business related field.
- Experience with Microsoft/Data bricks suite of engineering tools (eg ADF, Data bricks Notebooks, Data bricks Delta lake, Synapse)
