Established in 1912, d’Arenberg is one of the most significant wineries in McLaren Vale. Producing boutique style premium wines, d’Arenberg has been awarded numerous national and international awards, and has received critical acclaim all over the world.

We are also home to the highly acclaimed d’Arenberg Cube with 360 degree views overlooking d'Arenberg's vineyards.

We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated wine professional to join our team as Winemaker, working collaboratively with the Chief Winemaker, Senior Winemaker and the Winery Team.

The role will include:

- Planning, coordinating and executing the production of d’Arenberg products from grape receival through to bottling with a focus on, but not limited to, managing our highly acclaimed white wine program. This will involve working outside of regular hours as required.
- Quality assessment of wines including blending responsibilities as part of the winemaking team
- Managing performance and development of cellar staff
- Close communication and co-ordination with other departments
- Proactive involvement with our WHS, QA, HACCP, Organics and Sustainability systems
- Develop relationships and liaise with our key winery suppliers and service providers
- Participation in public/industry wine tastings and other promotional duties
- Assist with various other duties (bulk wine trading, product/equipment research and trials, managing barrel program etc)
- A tertiary degree in Winemaking or Oenology
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar winemaking role
- A practical understanding of small batch wine making (on a large scale)
- Practical Laboratory skills
- Effective communication and leadership expertise
- Energy, enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to our dynamic team
- The ability to work hands on in all areas of the winery
- A passion for wine and a developed palate influenced by global wine styles
- A current Forklift Licence and Confined Space Entry Certificate are considered advantageous
- Knowledge of Ezywine and Vinwizard programs are desirable
- Previous experience with distillation would be advantageous
