**About the Role**:
The Certified Career Counsellor at Melbourne Polytechnic’s Skills and Jobs Centre will provide high-quality, impartial career guidance to various clients, including retrenched workers and CALD students. This role involves delivering one-on-one counselling, course advice, and work readiness workshops while liaising with students, employers, and community services. The counsellor will ensure alignment with government priorities and coordinate referrals to appropriate job readiness and community service providers.

**Duties**:

- Provide training course advice and pathway services across Melbourne Polytechnic and a range of institutions.
- Using sound judgement and critical analysis, refer job seeker triage services with CEAV, employment agencies, financial support services, social welfare services.
- Build and maintain quality partnerships with relevant Melbourne Polytechnic stakeholders, industries, and other TAFE providers.
- Work in collaboration with other stakeholders and agencies such as PRACE (Northland); Matchworks (Epping); Brotherhood; Darebin Youth Services in northern corridor; Koorie Services; and Multi-Skills.
- Represent Melbourne Polytechnic SJC at appropriate forums and meetings.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Coordinator, and wider Student Acquisitions team to develop and deliver integrated career education materials to support access to courses and further education.
- Develop, plan, organise, coordinate, and deliver innovative careers events, workshops, and programs.

**Skills and Experience Required**:

- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or Graduate Certificate in Career Development/Counselling and 5+ years’ experience in a specialised career counselling role.
- Knowledge of career development theory and practice, with experience in individual careers counselling, including 4+ years of evidenced theory and practice implementation.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the labour market and the TAFE and Community Services sectors.
- Experience in motivating and influencing people in relation to sensitive issues or towards a particular course of action.
- High level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with wide range of customers from a range of cultural backgrounds.
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee) - mandatory.
- Current National Police Check - mandatory.
- A current International Police Check if you have resided continuously in an overseas country for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.
