**Position Purpose**:
The Aquatic Safety Coordinator is an important part of the facility leadership team.

The Coordinator will manage and lead the Lifeguard team and ensure that the delivery of the service meets agreed standards. They will lead, inspire, and motivate teams through clear and achievable team goals and ensure high standards of implementation of Policies and Procedures.

A key function of the role will be ensuring that all facilities provide a safe, clean and enjoyable environment at all times with no downtime of facilities.

This is a permanent full-time position with an annual salary of $60,803 + Super.

**Key Result Areas (Primary Responsibilities)**

1. People Leadership
- Lead, inspire, and motivate teams through communicating clear and achievable team goals.
- Promote and accept personal accountability by providing clear and regular feedback to teams and demonstrating strong leadership in decision making.
- Build a culture of learning and development through on the job coaching and team based training.
- Identify and nurture future leaders through effective individual learning and development plans.
- Work a flexible rotating roster that provides leadership to teams across the full hours of operation.

2. Maximize Customer Experience
- Ensure that Health Wellness Programs are delivered in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
- Ensure that instructors are interacting positively and professionally with participants to assist them to safely achieve their health and wellness goals.
- Ensure that customer bookings, enquiries, feedback and concerns are handled professionally and responded to as quickly as possible.
- Contribute to the development of programs that respond to community needs while aligning to established Council, Sector and Organisational objectives and strategies.
- Work a flexible roster to support customer excellence across all days and hours of operation.

3. Human Resource Management
- Manage performance shortfalls in a supportive and timely manner, with support from the Manager as required; in addition to implementing the annual performance appraisal program.
- Adopt effective recruitment processes that delivers a capable workforce, optimal employment practices, and a diverse staff team that is reflective of the local community.
- Oversee the onboarding process of new staff, ensuring that they are provided with the necessary induction and training to set them up for success in their role, with support from the Manager as required.
- Manage the scheduling and approval of staff work hours using the Roster, Time and Attendance (RTA) system and ensuring compliance to the relevant Staff Agreement / Award and YMCA’s best practices.
- Ensure all staff hold the required qualifications and certificates for their position, or are immediately derostered.

4. Centre Leadership - Manager on Duty
- Provide leadership to customers, staff and contractors across all areas of the facility as Manager on Duty if required.
- When designated as the Manager on Duty provide immediate support to customers, staff and contractors to ensure that agreed service and safety standards are met in all areas of the facility, consulting as appropriate with other leaders on site.

5. Finance, Reporting and Administration
- Ensure Aquatic programs and services are delivered in accordance with operating budgets, objectives and Key Performance Indicators, with support from the Manager as required.
- Complete daily, weekly and Monthly checklists and reports.
- Log, Investigate and Close incidents in the INX system
- Manage stock and inventory, including ordering within budget parameters, receiving deliveries, approving payment and verifying stock takes.

6. Quality Management and Compliance
- Maintain an understanding of, and ensure appropriate standards of implementation of:

- YMCA Policies and Procedures, including Safeguarding of Children and Young People (SCYP)
- YMCA Staff Agreement or relevant Industry Award - National Fitness Industry Code of Practice
- Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations - Relevant specifications of the Facility Management Contract
- Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations, when working as Manager on Duty

**Mandatory Pre-Requisite Qualifications**

These must be maintained as a requirement of continued employment, at the employee’s expense.
- HLTAID001 or HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID003 or HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- SISSS00111 Pool Lifeguard Skill Set

**Desirable Qualifications & Experience**
- Minimum of 12 months’ leadership experience
- Relevant diploma; or approved equivalent
- Sport and Recreation and / or Facility Operations experience
