**What does the business unit do?**

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) delivers a justice and community safety system that works to build a safer, fairer and stronger Victoria. Technology Solutions explores and employs modern technology to serve the department's business needs. The business unit is responsible for the department's IT strategies, policies, projects, architecture, infrastructure, corporate systems and service management of IT suppliers.

**What will the role do?**

The purpose of this role will be to provide technical assistance to staff and contractors by acting as a point of contact to support service users and customers by reporting and resolving issues, requesting information, facilitating access and liaising with a variety of stakeholders. This position will also be required to coordinate activities such as project work, audits, documentation and the setup and distribution of new and used ICT (Information and Communication Technology) equipment.

The Technical Field Officer will also be required to work across multiple sites including but not limited to Parkville, Malmsbury and various DJCS locations.

**What skills should a Technical Field Officer have?**
- Knowledge of ICT service support best practices and experience in the delivery of client technical support utilising multiple service channels or face to face.
- Customer Service Support [CSMG3]: Acts as the routine contact point, receiving and handling requests for support. Responds to a broad range of service requests for support by providing information to fulfil requests or enable resolution. Provides first line investigation and diagnosis and promptly allocates unresolved issues as appropriate. Assists with the development of standards, and utilises existing systems to track, monitor, report, resolve or escalate issues. Contributes to creation of support documentation.
- IT infrastructure [ITOP3]: Carries out agreed operational procedures, including infrastructure configuration, installation and maintenance. Uses infrastructure management tools to collect and report on load and performance statistics and to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure. Contributes to the implementation of maintenance and installation work. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined system backups, restoring data where necessary. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution
