**APS4 - Senior Library Officer, Reading Room Out of Hours - Irregular or Intermittent Pool**:

- Support the Library's readers and researchers, providing reference services in our reading rooms

We are seeking to create a pool of non-ongoing irregular or intermittent (casual) staff for the role of **Senior Library Officer, Out of Hours (APS 4)** in the Reader Services Section of the Engagement Branch. Once established, the casual pool may be used to fill non ongoing vacancies for up to 18 months from the date of advertising.

These roles are non-ongoing irregular or intermittent (casual) and there will be no specific or regular work pattern, working to fill relief or short notice shifts. You must be available to work Monday - Thursday evenings and on weekends. Shifts will vary depending on operational requirements during the Library’s advertised reading room opening hours.

The role is an exciting opportunity for a skilled library officer to be part of a team supporting the Library’s readers and researchers, providing reference services in our reading rooms in the evenings and on weekends.

You will provide expertise and support to deliver customer focused reference services and support access to collection materials via:

- The Library’s Main Reading Room (face to face)
- Online and phone reference channels.

The Senior Library Officer, Out of Hours Operations, is a highly client focussed role. An in depth knowledge of the role and functions of the section and the Library is required. This will include:

- Provide customer-focused reference services in the Library’s reading rooms.
- Respond to enquiries via the Library’s online and phone reference channels.
- Assist with the use of Library equipment, systems and services.
- Deliver staff training for service delivery.
- Problem solving.

Key activities include:

- Providing readers and visitors with high quality assistance in relation to their onsite research.
- Assisting with the use of Library equipment, systems and services.
- Monitoring service activity.
- Undertaking reporting activities to inform decision making including:

- Reader Services statistical reporting
- Reporting on out of hours use of the Library.

It is mandatory that you hold qualifications or equivalent experience in Information Management, Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences. It is desirable that you have experience in delivering onsite and online reference and information services.
