**Position Information**

Heckenberg Public School is part of the Liverpool Network in South West Sydney. It is 5km west of the Liverpool CBD and is in the 2168 local area. The school is an important part of our community. Heckenberg PS has an enrolment of 207 students, 22 of which are Aboriginal. The main languages spoken at home by our families are English, Arabic, Vietnamese and Samoan, resulting in the school having an EALD rate of 67%. Overall, there are 21 language groups that make up the Heckenberg PS community.The school prides itself on providing a variety of extra curricular activities for our students in the area of sport, technology and the creative arts.

The Teacher Special Education Hearing Impairment (Itinerant Position) is based at Heckenberg Public School, with a teaching caseload within the Liverpool Network and surrounding Network schools. Applicants must have an approval to teach students with a Hearing Impairment. Ability and willingness to travel between work sites is required.

**Specific Selection Criteria**
- Approval to teach students with a Hearing Impairment.
- Ability to design, implement, monitor and evaluate inclusive Personalised Learning and Support Programs for students who are Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with all stakeholders including parents, schools and external agencies.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experiences of current assistive hearing technology and the ability to use Auslan, other augmentative and non-verbal communication strategies.
