**Council Overview**

Strathfield Council (Council) is a medium sized Council located in Sydney’s Inner West. The area of the Council comprises approximately 14 square kilometres and has an estimated population of 46,000 residents, which is growing at 2.5-3% annually. Based on NSW Government projections, the population will increase to over 80,000 by 2036.

**About the Opportunity**

Strathfield Council is seeking a Student Planner to assist in adding value to our blossoming Planning and Place team. The commencement for this role will be in January 2025.

Reporting to an experienced Executive Planner, Development Assessment, you will be tasked with:

- The assessment, appraisal, processing, and reporting of a variety of Development Applications and Modification Applications.
- Providing accurate written and verbal advice regarding land use, zoning, planning legislation, Council policy and procedures.
- Meeting the needs of customers (internal and external), to project and promote the image of Council as an efficient, competent, and courteous organisation.
- Ensuring that all enquiries are answered in a timely manner, as per Council’s policies.
- Follow Council’s policies and procedures when carrying out work to ensure risks are managed. Report all incidents, risks, and issues to Executive Planner, Development Assessment in a timely manner.
- Other duties as directed by the Executive Planner, Development Assessment and Manager Place and Place that are within the scope of your skills and training.
