Instrumental Music Teacher

We are seeking a suitably experienced Instrumental Music Teacher to join our College Instrumental Music team on a ongoing basis.
The instrumental music teacher will be qualified to take private and group lessons and promote the Performing Arts faculty of the College. They will be confident working with students from a wide variety of performance skills from beginner to VCE level. Instrumental music teachers will be fully understanding of Child Safety requirements at the College and will ensure that all elements of the learning program promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.
The days and hours of work are:
- Wednesday: 9 - 12.30
- Thursday: 8.45 - 3.15
- Friday: 8.45 - 3.15
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Take instrumental lessons, assigning repertoire and exercises that best meet the needs of each student
- Work with classroom music to integrate appropriate theory into lessons
- Work with classroom music teachers to continue to promote the school’s instrumental program amongst potential students
- Assist in preparing VCE Music Performance students for assessments and performances
- Assist in leading smaller ensembles consisting of advanced students, assigning repertoire, leading rehearsals and preparing ensembles for performances across the school
- Attending performance evenings as required
- Any other duties as stipulated by the Executive Team or Arts Performance Coordinators
- Tertiary qualification in music performance
- Experience in planning and teaching instrumental lessons
- Experience in teaching senior and VCE Music Performance students
- A commitment to contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activities, including the school production, ensembles and
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use a variety of software programs
- Clear and effective communication skills both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
