About Us
At Baptcare, we care. Our Mission and Vision are lived through our WE CARE Values: for our residents, customers, clients, partners, and supporters; with the very young through to the very old, the vulnerable, with families through all of life’s stages and challenges.
Baptcare is a purpose driven organisation working across Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia. Focused on providing residential and community care for older people and support to children, families and people with disability, financially disadvantaged people and people seeking asylum.
Our Values are Wellbeing, Ethics, Co-creating, Accountability, Respect and Effectiveness.
About the Role
Baptcare’s Sanctuary services aim to provide safety, opportunity and a fair go for people seeking asylum. The Sanctuary Caseworker achieves this by providing client-centred casework services to people seeking asylum who reside in Baptcare rooming houses and housing in the community. Adult clients are supported to improve their wellbeing, independence and social participation.
The Sanctuary Caseworker is responsible for supervising and supporting volunteers who assist the caseworker to deliver support and increase resident independence. The role provides assessment, support, and referral to clients, focusing on the major functional areas of the person’s life including legal, material wellbeing, physical and mental health, independence, and spiritual wellbeing. Working frequently with people affected by trauma, there is a strong emphasis on creating trust, promoting safety, and encouraging participation.
**Responsibilities will include**:
**Client outcomes**: Commitment to the delivery of evidence-based, trauma-informed best practice services to asylum-seekers with complex needs, to promote their stability and capacity to secure independent housing.
**Risk management**: Risk assessment and harm minimisation intervention strategies are implemented for all clients, with particular emphasis on mental health.
**Occupancy and through put**: Effective assistance is provided to clients who secure a substantive visa or employment income, to exit the program and transition into other housing.
**Sustainable service delivery**: Compliance with budgets, procedures and protocols to meet best practice and compliance with legislation, Baptcare quality systems, and contractual requirements.
**Strategic Partnership**: Maintain and encourage positive working relationships with key stakeholders including other services.
**Team development**: Participate, assist and support the immediate and broader team to implement evidence-informed practice and ensure exceptional client-centred service and outcomes-based support to clients.
Work health and safety leadership and personal commitment to working with all Baptcare stakeholders to achieve a safe workplace
