It is an exciting time for Tennis in Australia, and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Head of Competitive Play to join our team at Tennis Queensland on a permanent full-time basis.
About the role
Reporting to the CEO of Tennis Queensland, the Head of Competitive Play will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Tennis Queensland Competitive Play strategy and associated key objectives for all events and leagues across QLD. The key areas of focus will support the core elements of competitive pathway integration - stakeholder immersion, team tennis, leagues (competitions), social play, events (tournaments) and major events - with particular attention given to providing pathways for participation and performance competitive play.
- In this role you will:_
- Be the face of Competitive Play in the state.
- Lead the development and implementation of all Queensland Leagues (Competitions).
- Work with event (tournament) staff to ensure best practice delivery of all tennis events providing a showcase of Queensland’s leading players at all levels.
- Lead the annual Competitive Play calendar for Queensland, liaising with all key stakeholders.
- Manage the department’s performance, strategies, measurable outcomes and budgets and the setting of key metrics and targets.
- Develop a community engagement strategy for all major events in Queensland - including but not limited to; Australian Pro Tour, Brisbane International, major competition carnivals
About you
- What you will bring to the role:_
- Tournament directing/management experience (essential)
- Knowledge of community participation in sport, including club and volunteer management
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to evoke the cooperation of multiple stakeholders across a wide range of organisations including volunteers, coaches, clubs, LGA’s and schools
- Strong understanding of commercial opportunities
- High level organisational skill and project management abilities
- Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination
- Driver’s licence
- You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Blue Card
