The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Health and Social Development

**About the role**:
The Social Work program is based at the Geelong Waterfront and Warrnambool Campuses and our programs actively promote a critical social work perspective with a sharp focus on the issues and manifestations of power, oppression and exploitation, at [inter]personal, cultural and structural levels. Social Work is taught on campus, online and in conjunction with Deakin’s National Indigenous Knowledges Education Research Innovation (NIKERI) Institute.

The Lecturer in Social Work will be required to teach and engage in scholarly activities associated with Social Work education. The appointee will promote the School and maintain links and partnerships with relevant academic, industry and professional communities and make an independent contribution to the School’s teaching, research, and program development. This position is suited to a person with an emerging record and passion for learning and teaching, a keen interest in contributing to community engagement for teaching and employability.

**As a Lecturer, Education-focused, you will**:

- Develop, implement and review unit curricula and learning resources to ensure effectively address the everchanging requirements of Social Work practice
- Deliver learner-centric, scholarly and practice-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses for students studying on campus or online
- Make a significant contribution to pedagogy research projects and demonstrate a disciplinary reputation in teaching scholarship and pedagogical research.
- Make significant advances in knowledge within the specific fields/areas of teaching scholarship and pedagogical research activity in the scholarship of teaching and educational development through independent contribution to pedagogical research activity.

**To be successful, you’ll have**:

- Ability to deliver effective teaching practices to improve student success and engagement.
- PhD or Masters in a relevant discipline and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
- Eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Ability to make a contribution to community engagement for teaching and research.
- Capacity to contribute to leadership of teaching, research and/or administration.
- Knowledge, understanding, and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and contemporary issues related to First Nations Peoples.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
