**_The Opportunity:_**

This is an opportunity to enter the Trades and Services sector and develop a long-term career path.

The apprenticeship will be formalised after the completion of the initial probationary period.

**_The Employer:_**

The position will be with Homemakers Glass and Aluminium - a Nanango based business that has been servicing clients in the South Burnett region for 34 years with the workshop production and on-site installation of glass and aluminium windows, doors, shower screens, mirrors, security products and insect screens.

**_What You Will Learn:_**

Initial training will be designed to develop:

- A safety focus in the workplace.
- Practical skills to operate glazing and workshop tools and equipment.
- The skills to understand and follow plans.
- The ability to work to established specifications and quality standards.
- Accurate measuring skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Forklift operations.

**_What You Will Need:_**

To ensure success for the applicant appointed, preference will be shown to those able to demonstrate:

- A willingness to learn.
- Proven strong numeracy and comprehension skills.
- The willingness and ability to complete a Cert III in Glass & Glazing.
- A proven commitment to a strong work ethic.
- A preference for working in a practical, hands-on learning and work environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- A high attention to detail.
- A desire for a long-term career path.
- A current driver's licence.

Although not essential, applicants able to demonstrate any of the following will be shown preference:

- Experience with glass or aluminium products.
- Handyman skills or some background in building, carpentry or cabinetmaking.
- A current Forklift ticket.

**_The Hours:_**

There is some flexibility available to adapt the hours to the availability of the successful applicant.

Full-time hours are available as a 38-hour week commencing at 7.00 AM Monday to Friday.

However, should it better suit to do longer days Monday to Thursday with an early finish Friday or to do part-time, there is opportunity to discuss the range of preferences that can be considered.

**_Comprehension / Numeracy Assessment:_**

Applicants may be invited to attend a group session to complete a basic comprehension / numeracy assessment as an essential part of the recruitment process for this position.
