**Location - **Parramatta

**Employment type - **Ongoing

**Salary - **$134,411 to $155,445 (Clerk Grade 11/12)

**Your role**

The role manages a team of 6 regionally based disaster welfare officers. This is the first time that the overall Disaster Welfare Unit has had a full time, dedicated regional presence. The role will supervise the roll out of an expanded regional training and exercise program as well as lift Disaster Welfare’s profile with key partners at Regional and Local level to ensure welfare issues are better integrated into disaster planning. **What you’ll do**

Recent Governmental changes have assigned the Disaster Welfare function to the Department of Communities and Justice. As part of the new Disaster Welfare Unit, you will play a key role in re-establishing that Unit in DCJ, in particular the establishment and planning for the new team of 6 regional officers.

You will have a vital role in mapping capability needs regionally and then ensure a consistent and quality roll out of a training and exercise program. You will have a key role in after action reviews.

The DW Unit has objectives to increase the Governmental and Non-Governmental workforce available to work in Evacuation Centres and the Manager Regional will be instrumental in ensuring that recruitment and training targets are met.

The Regional team will also implement a local and regional engagement strategy which you will have a key role in designing.

You’ll contribute to the overall strategic planning of the Unit of 14 staff led by the Executive Director Disaster Welfare (State Welfare Services Functional Area Coordinator).

The team will have a strong emphasis on internal cooperation as well as working closely with partners inside DCJ, Reconstruction Authority, Non-Government partners as it expands and refreshes how disaster welfare capability is built, sustained and delivered. The role is based in Parramatta but significant regional travel is expected.

**What we’re looking for**
- can manage a dispersed workforce in regions with varying disaster risk profiles to meet objectives
- good relationship management skills to support the regional function as well as support the Executive Director in managing key State level relationships
- experience in management in an operational context so that you can take a key role along with the ED and Deputy State Wefac in operations
- the ability to help design and deliver disaster welfare programs that take into account regional variations
