This is a temporary part-time (3 days per week) vacancy available to 30 June 2023.

**The primary duties of the position are**:

- To provide high quality client-focussed research and information that meets the needs of Members of parliament, their staff and other specified clients.
- To participate as an active team member to support the strategic direction of the Parliamentary Library.

**Duties and responsibilities of the position include**:

- Assist the Director to deliver a quality client-focussed and relevant research and information service in a dynamic legislative environment.
- Contribute to and follow the Research & Information Services' quality guidelines in relation to research responses including measures such as confidentiality, accuracy, appropriateness, conciseness and timeliness and participating in the Library research peer review program.
- Liaise with clients in the preparation and delivery of relevant and timely research, including staffing the client service desk on a rostered basis.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic policies including collection development, systems design, service delivery, evaluation and feedback programs.
- Investigate, analyse, optimise and evaluate the use of relevant internal and external databases to meet client needs.
- Contribute to and participate in professional development and develop networks to maintain relevant levels of knowledge and skills in contemporary information practice.
- Represent and promote Library research services to clients, including assisting in development and delivery of client information literacy programs and presentations.
- Participate as a team member in a productive, dynamic, participative and continuous improvement orientated environment, by sharing information, models, practices and resources in a cooperative and collaborative manner.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of customised alert services to fulfil individual client needs, often within tight deadlines.
- Lead and/or participate in specialised multi-disciplinary projects as required.
- Assist in developing and documenting policy, processes and procedures of the Research section including maintaining sound record keeping practice.
