**About the role**:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a **Project Controls Specialist** to join the Stantec team. Working out of our Perth CBD office, you will form an integral part of the Project Management Team within our Energy & Resources division.

Our **Project Controls Specialist** will provide financial expertise to assist the Energy & Resources team to manage their spending on projects. Working to deliver a portfolio of projects within its approved budget by estimating, analysing/reporting, controlling, and forecasting all aspects including but not limited to labour, sub consultants and expenses cost and schedule.

**Essential Functions**:

- Perform a variety of cost engineering functions encompassing estimating, cost control, budge preparations, forecasting, and cost reporting under limited supervision.
- To perform and ensure an effective cost control function for ongoing projects.
- Interpret contract, manage financial risk, estimating and forecasting.
- Maintain current cost control database.
- Review proposed schedule changes with construction personnel, client and contractors.

**To be successful for this role you'll need**:

- 2-5 years experience in cost control and/or project controls.
- Experience in generating, understanding and analysing financial reports and schedules.
- Business awareness and acumen, sound knowledge of project costs, time and resource management.
- Work experience in relevant industries or related roles that require excellent self-organisational and coordination skills.
- Understanding and experience of project management as a discipline.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with a wide range of experienced professionals and levels of leadership.
- Strong administrative skills including attention to detail, written and oral communication, management of documentation.
- Possess sound problem-solving skills and ability to make timely suggestions, including knowing when to escalate issues of concern.
- Manages own time, prioritizes tasks or workflow/outputs, within business priorities.
- Proactively seek methods to add value to projects, working teams, and business operations.
- Conscientious person willing to take initiative and ownership of areas of responsibility to meet project requirements.
- Ability to work on multiple projects or tasks and comfortable with regular change in response to varying project or client priorities.
- Excellent experience with Microsoft Excel.
