**What you'll be doing**

The Bereavement Counsellor is responsible to the Clinical Service Manager, Palliative Care and works with the Bereavement Coordinator/Counsellor. The position sits within the Division of Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care to deliver specialist bereavement counselling and support across the ISLHD.
The Bereavement Counsellor is responsible for the delivery of specialist bereavement counselling and support to bereaved persons within the ISLHD. The Bereavement Counsellor will provide patient centred, evidence based therapeutic interventions and will work in collaboration with the Bereavement Coordinator/Counsellor to support the implementation of the Bereavement Model of Care, deliver broader activities within the bereavement program and participate in service planning, policy and service development. As a senior clinician, the Bereavement Counsellor will offer consultation and education to multidisciplinary staff within the ISLHD, as well as to the wider community.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (2 doses) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Please provide proof of vaccination if available.

Successful applicants to the role must provide certified documentation of vaccination history and pathology as part of their recruitment documentation. The applicant must be certified as compliant with Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infectious Diseases before employment can commence.

**Selection Criteria**
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology and eligible for, or membership with, relevant professional body. For Psychologist, current registration to practice from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Extensive experience as a counselling clinician in bereavement, palliative care or end of life contexts with specialist knowledge of bereavement, loss and grief processes and relevant post-graduate qualification, or working towards same.
- Experience in developing and delivering education and training programs in the areas of grief, loss and bereavement and the ability to support, supervise and mentor other health professionals.
- High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of clients and others, including people internal and external to the organisation.
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills in a complex clinical environment.
- Demonstrable ability to develop a positive local culture that aligns with organisational values and which fosters accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Current unrestricted drivers licence and willingness to travel for work purposes.
