The Science High Performance Computing team is currently seeking to appoint a DevOps Officer to help develop, improve and maintain devops, software environments and workflows on our Linux-based high-performance computing facility called Science Data and Compute (SDC). This facility is used to store, manage and process large scale data collections and plays an important role in providing an evidence base to the NSW government for data-driven decision making. It is the single-point-of-truth repository for key state data and is the operational system that supports a range of teams from Remote Sensing and Landscape Science, Climate and Atmospheric Science and others.

**About The Role**

In this role you will be part of a dedicated technical team that designs, maintains and administrates the high-performance compute facility SDC used by a wide range of scientists and staff across the department. You will use your technical skills to help build and maintain containerised workflows and software solutions, including system monitoring and CI/CD pipelines. You will use your proven DevOps and programming experience to help design and implement innovative solutions, and advise on appropriate technology and processes to meet business requirements and facilitate positive stakeholder.

**Essential Requirements**
- A degree in Science, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Kubernetes, and containerisation, e.g., Docker and Singularity
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, e.g. Ansible, Observability stack (Grafana, prometheus) and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience/proficiency with Linux systems (CentOS, RHEL, Suse etc)
- Programming experience, e.g., in Python, R, and bash
- Highly developed interpersonal and collaboration skill
- Motivated to learn new skills and technologies

We would love to hear if you also have
- Experience working with scientific software environments and workflows,
- Passion for writing well-structured, well-tested, maintainable, performant, and well-documented code.
