**About the Organisation**

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) was established in 1973 to address the specific medical needs of
Victorian Aboriginal communities. 2023 marks as a landmark year as VAHS proudly celebrate it’s 50-year of
providing a comprehensive range of medical, dental, and social services for our community.

As well as providing a variety of medical services, VAHS is committed to supporting the well-being of the
community through contributions to community events and activities. VAHS is also committed to assisting
research into the ongoing needs of the community.

**About the Opportunity**

The role of **ITC Spiritual and Emotional Wellbeing/Outreach Worker** is to develop and coordinate a series of
activities to empower clients of the ITC program who have a chronic disease, to self-manage their health and
improve their health outcomes, focusing on spiritual and emotional wellbeing.

**Key Selection Criteria
**To be considered for this role you must have the following.
**Essential**
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with Aboriginal Communities in a culturally

sensitive way.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to form effective professional relationships with

clients and staff.
- Strong leadership and group facilitation skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Current driver’s license.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity

and occupational health and safety.
- Fully approved Covid 19 Vaccinations (including booster)

**Desirable**
- Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal Health, the social determinants of health and the impact of

chronic disease on the Aboriginal community.

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Desirable - Tertiary qualifications in health sciences or equivalent experience.
- Desirable - Project Management/ group facilitation qualification/certification.
