This Victorian State Government Body focuses on ensuring the safe operation of the state’s energy infrastructure. As part of a broader refresh of the organisation’s regulatory framework, a Regulatory Legislation Manger position has been created, leading a team who delivers their inputs into legislation development and reform, developing legislative instruments within the energy safety legislative framework.
**Your new role**
The Legislation Manager oversees the Legislation team within the Regulatory Policy and Legislation department. This department operates as part of the Legal, Governance, and Regulatory Policy division, which handles all their legal operations, regulatory policy framework, legislative reform, investigations, prosecutions, and the secretariat function for our Commission and statutory committees. You will be responsible for:
- Strong Leadership: Lead by example, inspire your team, and drive results.
- Process Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create efficient and effective processes.
- Effective Communication: Articulate complex legal concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement policies that align with legislation.
- Regulatory Expertise: Non-negotiable requirement. Proven experience in regulatory affairs.
- Negotiation Skills: Navigate complex situations and find win-win solutions.
- Energy Sector Knowledge: Desirable.
**What you'll need to succeed**
You will be an experienced Legislation Manager, ideally, with expertise and a thorough understanding of policy development and Victorian government processes. You will be an expert at:
- Interpreting legislation and developing policy to then give strategic advice to key stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Public Policy, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in legislative management or regulatory affairs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence teams.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Passion for driving positive change through effective policy development.
