AFCA is an organisation of passionate, intelligent people who are committed to fairness and driving positive change in the financial sector. We have an opportunity for a Media Advisor who is looking for a permanent, full-time purpose-driven role.

Part of the Communications, Engagement and Brand team, the role of **Media Advisor **reports to the Media Manager and supports the success of AFCA's media relations activities. The role includes handling incoming media enquiries, helping to implement proactive media campaigns, advising internal stakeholders on media-related issues, and media analysis and reporting.

Typically, in this role you will:

- Engage with media outlets to ensure effective media coverage, enhancing the positive public perception of AFCA's work as Australia's financial ombudsman service.
- Handle incoming media enquiries efficiently and effectively.
- Write and pitch media releases, prepare briefings and talking points, and manage interviews.
- Collaborate closely with senior management and other internal stakeholders, working across multiple topics and projects.
- Support the Media Manager to ensure all media messages and activities are consistent with overarching AFCA strategic communication aims, as well as AFCA's brand and values.
- Manage tracking and reporting of media activity outcomes and effectiveness.

**About you**:
To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or experience in communication, media liaison, public relations or a related field.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of modern media strategy, best practice and channels, along with relevant tools and platforms, including those for media monitoring, reporting and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write, edit and produce highly professional communications across a range of modern media and channels.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and productively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Emotional intelligence and sound judgment, as a team player able to collaborate and cooperate on decisions and initiatives.
- Understanding of the financial services industry and financial services consumers is highly desirable, and you may have experience of government, regulator, member-based or consumer-focused organisations.
- Comfort with identifying and developing data-driven stories.
