**The FutureGEN Program**
Georges River Council's FutureGEN Cadetship Program provides under graduates, the opportunity to develop professional skills, undertake tailored learning and development activities, and receive mentoring from senior staff. At Council we aim to provide you with invaluable experience, where you will also be making a difference to improve the quality of life of our diverse community. With our support, you will work on important community projects from day one, with real responsibilities and real outcomes.
As part of our entry level talent program, you will have an opportunity to engage in networking events which are focused on personal and professional development with other FutureGEN program members across Council.
**The Role**
The Communications and Engagement team delivers internal and external communications, community consultation, public relations and media management services and strategies for Council.
The communications cadet will be provided with work-based training at Council, whilst being required to study a relevant undergraduate degree at a university. This role will gain experience in the multi-facetted communications requirements within local government whilst also providing support to the Communications and Engagement team. The position will support the content creation and management of internal and community messaging with guidance from the coordinator and experienced team members.
**Eligibility**
To be eligible to apply, you must be entering your penultimate or final year of a relevant university undergraduate degree at the time of commencing in January 2025. You will need to be enrolled in the degree for all of 2025.
**Qualifications, Certificates & Licences**
- Enrolled and in the process of completing a Degree in Communications, Media, Public Relations or a related degree.
**Essential**
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with staff and the community
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team in a common-sense and practical manner
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
**About the opportunity and what we can offer you**
- Temporary, Part-time - minimum 14 hours per week and up to 21 hours per week
- Salary from **$54,605.23 -$62,365.62** per annum pro rata plus 11.5% superannuation
