Our client is a leading manufacturer of PVC pressure pipes, fittings, profiles and conduits for the building and telecommunications industries. The group has been operating for fifty years and is proudly Australian owned and managed. The company has a national presence with production centred in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire.

**Position Overview**

The Toolmaker will be required to manage, diagnose, maintain, overhaul, repair and service the profiling and tooling equipment used to manufacture APP products. This will include the manufacture of new tooling and maintenance and improvement of existing tooling as well as the fitting and assembly of component parts into capital equipment.

**The Role**
- Liaising with the Toolroom Manager daily to prioritise and plan jobs.
- Ensuring that tooling is manufactured to a standard set by the Toolroom Manager, the Design Engineer and company policy.
- Comply with the drawings’ specifications and use suitable materials, methods and machine settings; always correctly setting and controlling machining tools and profiling machines
- Ensuring that metal stock, castings and fabricated, assembled metal parts are accurately machined to fit into APP machine and equipment infrastructure
- To ensure that tooling is manufactured in the given time scale.
- To always erect and hoist machines and equipment in the fabrication area using correct rigging protocols
- To ensure that tooling is manufactured in the given time scale.
- Fitting fabricated metal parts into machines and equipment
- Machining to specification hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
- Maintenance of extrusion tooling and equipment, setting dies, fine metal polishing and refinishing of equipment.
- To assist production staff with tooling problems
- Assisting with identifying the parts required for new jobs and re-builds and pass on to the Toolroom Manager to order.
- Carrying out Easter and Christmas shutdowns as required.
- Communicating with Toolroom staff in organizing Toolroom work as necessary.

**About You**
- **Qualifications**_
- Toolmaker/Mechanical Fitter Trade qualifications.
- A problem solver with strict attention to detail.
- Solid professionalism and an eye on continuous improvement.
- Current drivers’ licence.
- Forklift licence is desirable.
- Ability to work with multiple teams and department managers.
- Plastics manufacturing background knowledge or relevant industry experience highly regarded.
- **Skills and Knowledge**_
- Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in an industrial toolroom
- Strong attention to detail with proactive approach
- Planning, organisation, and problem solving.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Reliable, motivated, and punctual.
- Have a strong work ethic.
- Be physically fit and healthy for work.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Good communication skills and possess effective leadership qualities.
- Ability to develop and maintain supportive cross functional relationships.
- Understanding and practice of plastics semi-automated machinery concepts

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
