We are seeking a motivated Building Certifier to join our Building Certifications team

**About us**

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD and approximately 45 minutes south of the Central Coast. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscapes, with the rest of the Shire combining urban, rural and open spaces.

**About the role**

Council is seeking a pro-active, enthusiastic Building Certifier who has outstanding organisational skills and who has demonstrated knowledge in building certification, swimming pool safety, land-use planning, compliance and the regulatory functions that follow the building certification legislative framework.

In this role, you will utilise your extensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Local Government Act 1993, Swimming Pools Act, Building Code of Australia and other delegated NSW legislation.

**About you**

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to negotiate, mediate and problem-solve complex matters. You will hold a Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Building Surveying and be registered by NSW Fair Trading as a Building Surveyor.
