About us
Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) understands that to reduce the overrepresentation of Aboriginal people in the justice system and to achieve a reduction in the rate of reoffending, unique strategies and initiatives must be implemented.
Through its long-standing commitment to the Aboriginal Justice Agreement, the Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Plan, the Koori Inclusion Action Plan and in partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal community, CJS has developed this unique Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager role.
About the role
The Aboriginal Advanced Case Manager will be responsible for managing a case load with a majority of Aboriginal offenders to deliver dynamic evidence based best practice in the case management of offenders with complex needs and those who have committed serious offences. The unique purpose of this role is that it will be responsible for leading the provision of advice to General Managers/Operations Managers and Community Correctional Services on issues impacting on the effective case management of Aboriginal offenders and the development and implementation of cultural support plans for Aboriginal offenders.
The role will also be responsible for supporting the Aboriginal Case Manager and other case managers in their case management of Aboriginal offenders. Aboriginal Advanced Case Managers may also be required to provide advice to the Koori Court to assist in the sentencing process.

**To be successful in this role you will**:

- Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with members of the Victorian Aboriginal Community.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal Community, both society and culture and the issues impacting on it.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of best practice case management frameworks including the provision of needs assessment in human services context.
- Ability to implement theoretical concepts to reduce risk and maximise individual outcomes.
