The school celebrates 150 years of state education in 2024. The school has classes from Prep to Year 6, with the majority being multi-age eg 1/2, 3/4, 5/6. Specialist teachers include The Arts, Science and HPE, and Instrumental Music is offered to students in Year 4-6. Indigenous Languages (Kamilaroi and Mandandanji) are taught to students in Year 5 and 6.

About the Role
As a cluster position, the HOSES reports to the Principal of each school. The ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with various stakeholders across multiple school sites is integral to this role. At each school you will be working closely with the leadership team, classroom teachers, students, families and other members of a multi-disciplinary team, including Guidance Officers, OTs, SLPs and AVTs.You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of high-quality advice and support provided by the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program.
- Lead and manage the Special Education Program and/or Early Childhood Development Program to provide advice to classroom teachers for students with disability as needed.
- Provide high quality advice to the school leadership team, classroom teachers and other school staff to develop, plan and implement effective reasonable adjustments for students with disability.
- Coordinate and provide intensive targeted teaching for students requiring intervention.
- Provide, support and/or coordinate case management for students who require extensive or substantial adjustments.
- Support classroom teachers and other school staff to access departmental or other external specialist services, professional development, and supports as needed.
