**THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Museums Victoria, Australia's largest public museum organisation is seeking an Research Assistant.
We are seeking two enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join the Sciences team in collecting field-based wildlife data related to bushfire research and management. These positions will participate in a collaborative research team from Museums Victoria and the University of Melbourne Biodiversity Dynamics Research Group.
Working with Museums Victoria Sciences team, core functions of this position include:

- Participate on fieldwork involving surveys of wildlife in Victoria.
- Deploy wildlife cameras and acoustic monitoring devices in the field, including driving to field locations.
- Tag images of wildlife and/or acoustic recordings with taxonomic identifications and prepare data for registration in Museums Victoria's KE EMu database.
- Coordinate with research team from the University of Melbourne.

**Relevant skills and attributes**:

- Experience undertaking field-based animal surveys including field safety procedures.
- Experience with identifying Australian vertebrates (especially birds).
- Experience managing images and image metadata.
- Experience entering data into spreadsheets and maintaining research records.

**OTHER INFORMATION**:
This role is a full-time, fixed-term position for 12 months. The salary on offer is $52,493 per annum (Base of grade) plus 10% superannuation.
