**About the Teachers Registration Board**:
The Teachers Registration Board (the TRB) is established under the Teachers Registration and Standards Act 2004 (the Act) and the Teachers Registration and Standards Regulations 2021 to regulate the teaching profession. The object of the Act is, in the public interest, to maintain a teacher registration system and professional standards for teachers to ensure its members are competent, fit and proper to have the care of children.

The TRB is an independent statutory authority, with a dynamic, integrated operating environment of staff less than 32 persons, with flexible leadership and a practical focus on day-to-day implementation, where advancing teacher suitability requires both a cross-agency and team approach between TRB groups.

The TRB employs its own staff and is a public sector agency under the _Public Sector Act 2009_. The TRB has entered into an Administrative Agreement with the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (the Commissioner) and complies with the Commissioner’s Determinations, Guidelines and the Code of Ethics for the South Australian Public Sector. The TRB adheres to Work Health and Safety requirements, equal opportunity principles and public sector principles. The TRB are committed to creating a diverse workgroup.

The South Australian Public Sector Salaried Employees Interim Award and the South Australian Public Sector Enterprise Agreement: Salaried 2021 governs the employment conditions of employees of the TRB.

***Role Description**

The Project Officer, Professional Teaching Standards is accountable to the Manager, Policy and Strategic Development for providing leadership for the development, implementation, maintenance and review of projects/programs that support the promotion of the teaching profession and professional standards for teaching, including the accreditation of Initial Teacher Education programs.

This role is offered at full time, at the ASO7 Level and for a term of 2 years - located in the heart of the Adelaide CBD.

**Role Summary**

The Project Officer, Professional Teaching Standards is responsible for:

- Providing specialist advice and a high level of expertise on Board policies and processes in relation to professional teaching standards and the promotion of the teaching profession.
- Undertaking the development, implementation and review of professional teaching standards related policies and procedures to meet national initiatives to enhance teacher quality.
- Contributing to a range of activities associated with the functions of the Board including the transition to (full) registration process and implementation of nationally consistent registration requirements.
- Coordinating the accreditation of Initial Teacher Education programs including the provision of expert advice to stakeholders and undertake the role of Executive Officer to accreditation panels.
- Providing expert advice and support to the working groups and committees of the Board and representing the Board as appropriate at a State and National level.
- Identifying and researching data to analyse future trends/issues and the potential risks and opportunities for the agency on a broad range of teacher quality and mobility issues.
- Interprets and analyses relevant legislation and other initiatives at a State and National level and advises the Manager of emerging opportunities and risks, including from enhanced teacher mobility and as to teacher quality impacts.

- Extensive experience in leading and managing the development of specific projects/programs at a state-wide level, including complex and/or sensitive projects utilising sound project management skills, diplomacy and confidentiality.

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in online and electronic environments.
- Ability to keep accurate and complete records of core business activities in accordance with agency responsibilities under the State Records Act 1997.
