**The role**

The Hydrographer will provide hydrographic support, focussing on customers (water delivery) and downstream communities (flood and drought impacts) and will also provide a resource for flood operations associated with operational emergency management. This role will enhance existing capability around hydrometric monitoring and associated data management and analysis whilst bolstering the current hydrographic team. This position may require regular travel for extended periods of time and participation in on an oncall roster.

Responsibilities will include:

- Assist in ensuring that the hydrographic data system is functioning day to day, required for operational water delivery and for flood operations.
- Contribute to the delivery of an annual maintenance program for hydrographic infrastructure.
- Contribute to quality assurance of the hydrometric data using Sunwater’s Hydstra database.
- Support the undertaking stream flow gauging as part of the hydrometric monitoring program.
- Assist with fault-finding, repair and maintenance activities associated with the monitoring network.

**About you**

We are looking for someone with ideally with a Diploma of Water Operations (or willingness to obtain). In addition, you will be able to demonstrate:

- 2 years’ experience in maintaining hydrographic assets or work in a similar field.
- Knowledge of hydrographic monitoring equipment including river and rainfall monitoring stations
- Knowledge streamflow gauging knowledge and skills
- Ability to analyse hydrographic issues and to develop a range of practical recommendations and identify a preferred option for the resolution.
- Valid Drivers Licence (Open C Class).
