**Position description**

We seek an enthusiastic Health Professional (Genetic Scientist) to join our Genetics department at Macquarie Park. You will be an essential team member, and your responsibilities will include the following:

- You will play a key role in the development of somatic genetic testing of tumour tissues
- Perform genetic testing to determine disease diagnosis, preconception screening, non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT), relationship testing and pharmacogenetics
- Adhering to internal policies and procedures when conducting laboratory tasks
- You will be collaborating with experienced scientists and genetic pathologists on complex projects
- Other laboratory tasks as required.

- Is highly knowledgeable in established techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, Sanger sequencing, fragment analysis, MLPA, droplet digital PCR and NGS
- Minimum of 3 years’ laboratory experience in DNA testing techniques. Experience in medical genetic diagnostics and tumour tissue DNA testing highly desirable
- Self-motivated, flexible and has in-depth knowledge of genetic theory and genetic techniques
- Graduated with a Medical Science Degree or recognised AIMS equivalent. Postgraduate qualifications would be a distinct advantage
- Open to working full time hours 9 am - 5 pm Monday to Friday.
