- $87,292 pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
- 72.5 hour fortnight

**About our opportunity**

As a Building Inspector within our Buildings and Facilities team you will be responsible for delivering scheduled and reactive inspections of Council's buildings and facilities, ensuring buildings are structurally sound and have been designed, constructed and maintained to comply with legal requirements.

You will provide technical advice to manage the buildings and facilities compliance and maintenance requirements and provide a source of departmental expertise on building condition and compliance - including but not limited to structural integrity, hydraulic and fire compliance, asbestos compliance, building safety, planned maintenance and renewal priorities for Council's 1800+ buildings and facilities.

Additionally, your responsibilities will include:

- working closely with the Defect Management Officer and report any building defects and deficiencies using business systems and procedures
- providing technical input, advice and costing estimates for the development of building and facilities maintenance and renewal program
- undertaking technical assessments and investigations as well as providing expert advice and costing estimates in relation to building compliance and maintenance issues
- conducting building pre-handover inspections at Practical Completion and conclusion of the Defect Liability period for new and refurbished building projects noting departures from building legislation to assist in the development of detailed reports of issues identified requiring rectification

**About you**

To be successful in this position you will have demonstrated relevant building construction industry experience in a similar role with knowledge and experience conducting building surveys, knowledge relating to building construction matters - including interpretation of construction plans and specification and demonstrated knowledge relating to building structural integrity, asbestos compliance, fire and electrical safety and other building compliance matters.

You will also have knowledge relating to building construction matters, including interpretation of construction plans and specification, developed investigative, analytical, research and technical report writing skills and knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation practices applicable to building services.

Paired with the above listed experience you will have interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment, a current C class drivers licence, a Construction Induction Card (or must be willing to obtain prior to commencement) and either possess a current Queensland Building and Construction Commission completed Residential Building Inspector license & an Asbestos Awareness Certificate or be able to obtain both within 3 months.
