**The Position**
Advanced Training in General Paediatrics with Perinatal and Community Components.
This position includes the chance to participate in RACP OTP Peer Review and Junior Consultant Step-Up roles. The role provides flexibility to tailor the training experience to the individual trainee's interests and advanced training plan. This includes a six-month term in community or developmental paediatrics, as well as potential leadership opportunities in areas such as respiratory, emergency, neonatal, critical care, retrieval, cardiology, and neurology.
This position is particularly suitable for those on a dual qualification or general-with-interest pathway. It also offers involvement in research and the development of professional qualities necessary for completing a paediatric fellowship.
**The Location**
A vibrant regional center in tropical North Queensland, serving a population of over 180,000. **The Facility**
The facility recently underwent a significant $408 million overhaul and expansion, doubling its bed capacity to over 300 and increasing its size by 40,000m2, which includes a new Emergency Department. This transformation has elevated it to a state-of-the-art, fully modern facility, making it one of Australia's largest regional healthcare centers. Accredited for training by several colleges, the hospital offers a wide range of specialist services to the local community. These include Emergency Department services, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Psychiatry, Aged Care, Renal Medicine, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) care, Ophthalmology, Palliative Care, and Day Surgery.
**The Requirements**
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Successful completion of the FRACP paediatric clinical and written exam or equivalent with RACP certification.
- Must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in “relevant occupation” and be registered with the “relevant agency”
