Eden Ritchie is seeking a Principal Finance Policy Officer (AO7) who will contribute to the Statutory Reporting and Policy Stream that provides advice and support at a whole of agency consolidated level to the various program and business areas, on the agency’s statutory reporting requirements, processes and obligations. In accordance with the statutory requirements of the Financial Accountability Act 2009 and other relevant Acts, Schedules and policies, its functional responsibilities will include the project management and preparation of the annual financial statements together plus directing, advising and reporting on all Departmental taxation matters to ensure compliance.

This function is also responsible for developing and implementing financial management and accounting policies and procedures, along with effectively communicating and working with the Systems and Operations stream to deliver required training programs. In addition, this function will co-ordinate the systems appraisal assurance activities as part of the agency’s financial internal control framework and as required for the Chief Finance Officer.

**Key responsibilities**

This role will play a leading role in developing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing the suite of financial reporting policies, procedures and practices that facilitate and optimise the resource allocation and financial management of the department.
- Take a lead role in liaising with Queensland Treasury on financial policy issues that affect the department and in assisting the unit at high level negotiations in a variety of other forums on issues relating to the functional area of the branch or unit.
- Encourage an innovative and dynamic environment and effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with project sponsors and key stakeholders to ensure innovative best practice policy and procedures solutions are developed and approved whilst building and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Make effective use of individual and team capabilities through delegating effectively and negotiating responsibility for work outcomes.
- Research and draft new, or amendments to existing, financial business policies and procedures in response to changing business needs.
- Prepare briefing material and correspondence for submission to senior management on financial policy issues and/ or finance and administration delegation matters.

**Mandatory requirements**
- CPA or above (for Australia)
- CA or above (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia), or
- PNA or above (the National Institute of Accountants), or
- Qualifications from an overseas accounting body that are recognised by at least two of the aforementioned bodies as having equivalent requirements for membership.
