The Lead, Indigenous Engagement at the University Library will be responsible for leading the implementation of the Library Indigenous Action Plan. The position sits within the Library’s Leadership Team and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build the cultural capability of Library staff, develop culturally safe services and collections and engage with Indigenous communities.

This includes providing high level advice, guidance and reports to Library leaders and other stakeholders on activities related to the implementation of the Indigenous Action Plan. Additionally, the Lead will identify and create guidelines for library staff to use when creating services and developing collections as well as contributing to the improvement of Library spaces to make them inclusive and welcoming for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

This fixed term position is full time and will be located at the Callaghan Campus (Awabakal and Worimi land).

**About the Unit**:
The University Library sits within the Academic Division and plays a pivotal role in supporting the learning and research needs of the University community. Library staff work in partnership with the University community to provide convenient access to high quality information resources and information management services, tailored programs of student and researcher support, and a first-class learning environment. The Library has a responsibility to care for, preserve and share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural knowledge within its collections. With a commitment to supporting and advancing the University’s reconciliation work we aim to further our collective understanding of Indigenous knowledge, building a culture of respect and recognition as we develop services, spaces and resources.

**What we offer**:
The remuneration for this position is from $91,259 - $102,667 p.a. +17% superannuation and is commensurate with skills and experience.

- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- A degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and management expertise in technical or administrative fields; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a knowledge and understanding of the contributions, successes and challenges relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrated project coordination skills including the ability to plan, develop and implement activities, initiatives and frameworks to meet strategic and operational priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively and bring together people from different areas to participate in Library wide initiatives.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including the capacity to build relationships and an inter-disciplinary way of working.
- Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.
