If the thought of delivering magic to over a million guests every year makes you smile, then we have an amazing opportunity for you to join our team here at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium as a **Head Keeper.**
**About the Role**
Our keepers connect guests with sea life through creating and maintaining engaging world-class displays, delivering memorable guest experiences and ensuring best-practice animal welfare. This is a specialist Head Keeper role. Please ensure you meet the selection criteria before applying. Minimum one day of diving per week is required.
We are open to this role being part time for the right applicant.
**About You**
- Minimum 4-years paid experience working as an aquarist in the aquarium industry.
- Tertiary qualifications in animal care and/or marine biology.
- Currently classified as Keeper-Senior with ability to meet the Head Keeper-competent position classification as outlined in the Merlin Entertainments ANZ Enterprise Agreement.
- ADAS Occupation SCUBA Part 1 or Aquarium Diver.
- A thorough understanding and working knowledge of Life Support Systems as employed on the site to ensure; correct maintenance is carried out in accordance with the manufactures recommendations and swift resolution of problems if they occur.
- A thorough knowledge of the Water Environment, which will allow the identification and resolution of problems with the environment for the animals.
- Boat Handling experience (Coxswains Unrestricted or restricted) OR currently undertaking.
- Current First Aid / CPR / Oxygen Administration/Occupational Dive Medical
- Experience in training and supervising volunteers/students in a zoo and/or aquarium setting.
- Extensive experience in supporting the management of animal health in a zoo and/or aquarium setting.
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, cope with frequent and unpredictable changes to daily routine and workloads, and to work, at times under high pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work unsupervised, assess tasks and set priorities for self.
- Current (or willingness to obtain at own expense) Working with Children Check.
