**Tech Lead - Food Waste Venture**

BCGX (BCGDV) and a leading Australian retailer are incubating a new profit-for-purpose venture on a mission to solve the food waste problem. We’re creating a digital platform which will become the trusted place to buy, sell, move, and donate excess produce.

This venture will launch in late 2023 and we’re looking for a **Tech Lead** as one of the early hires.

The **Tech Lead** role will be responsible for defining the technology roadmap and working with product and design stakeholders to build the digital marketplace platform from its early stages to scale. As the Tech Lead, you will also be responsible for building and leading a team of engineers, driving an engaged and high-performance team.

**In this role you will**
- Establish the platform’s technology vision
- Lead the technical strategy for the platform, developing the technical architecture strategy to support the goals of the business
- Set the technical vision and engineering roadmap
- Architect and evolve the core tech stack for the platform
- Collaborate with product and design leaders to shape and execute the product roadmap

**Be hands on in building**
- Define and implement an effective quality assurance process.
- Help to design and implement technical solutions to both front-end and back-end code
- Manage 3rd parties and external vendors (in regard to tech integration)

**Build great talent & team**
- Grow and lead a talented engineering team to 10+, developing the careers and technical capabilities of all team members
- Monitor and set OKRs

**You should have.**
- 7+ years’ experience in a software engineering role
- 3+ years hands-on leadership with proven ability to scale and build lean engineering teams of ~10 from scratch.
- Passion and interest for solving the problem of food waste
- Ability to lead a team and drive engagement and performance
- T-shaped full stack experience with an expertise in at least one aspect of development and a strong knowledge of front and back-end, dev-ops and infrastructure within the realms of mobile and web
- Previous experience working closely with quality assurance
- Experience with some of: JavaScript, Typescript, node.js, React Native, native mobile development, Terraform, AWS GCP or Azure
