Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

An exciting Temporary Part time role until January 2025 is now available for an Exercise Physiologist located at Nepean Hospital.

This role will see you provide provision of comprehensive assessments including the running of submaximal exercise testing to maximize quality of patient care, prescribe exercise and monitor patients at Phase II exercise sessions. This is to be completed in conjunction with Cardiac Rehabilitation CNC and Cardiac Rehabilitation nursing staff.

At all times you will provide high level of clinical expertise and advice on appropriate exercise prescription for acute high risk cardiac patients with consideration of their co-morbidities, exercise independent clinical judgment for the safety of the patient and knowledge of when to hand over/advise CNC Cardiac Rehab or appropriate medical professional on patient complications and provision of education to patients on the benefits of exercise and suitable exercise prescription as part of the group education component of the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

Within this role you will work collaboratively with the patient/carers to establish lifestyle goals and encourage self-management of their health and cardiovascular condition, identify musculoskeletal limitations/injuries and modify exercises to suit their limitations and enable participation in group exercise. Refer to Nepean Hospital Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy treatment as required. At all times ensure planning of care involves the patient with appropriate preparation for separation and referral to community based exercise services to provide ongoing management of patient care.

**What will you bring to the role**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Bachelor of Exercise Science and rehabilitation or a master's in clinical Exercise Physiology with eligibility for accreditation with Exercise Sport Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist
- Demonstrated extensive experience in providing a high standard of evidence-based clinical assessment and exercise intervention for patients with chronic and complex disease in outpatient and community settings. This includes both group and individualised interventions for cardiovascular disease.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated effective time management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and contribution to evidence-based practice, research and/or quality improvement.
- Experience supervising students and facilitating an environment for personal and professional development
