Hays is currently partnered with a Federal Government organisation who are seeking an APS6 Fraud and Controls Advisory Officer for a full time, temporary 12 month assignment with the potential to extend.

**Your new role**

You will work standard business hours from Monday to Friday, providing detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support our Client's objectives.

Responsibilities include:

- Reporting key findings, observations, trends and emerging risks to corporate committees and leadership networks.
- Developing project and business risk plans to enhance fraud and compliance prevention and detection mechanisms.
- Working with Risk Partners to support areas of the business to analyse risk, identify control gaps and develop treatment plans to support an uplift in the risk environment.
- Working with project teams to facilitate the identification of fraud prevention strategies within strategic project activities.
- Undertaking fraud risk assessments and reviews to identify areas of potential exposure in relation to fraud risk and developing strategic initiatives to mitigate risks.
- Identifying issues and opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and management of fraud risk.
- Gathering, investigating and analysing information and data from a variety of sources and business systems and proposing control improvement strategies.
- Contributing to the management of the Agency’s Fraud Risk Register and Controls Library.

**What you'll need to succeed**

To succeed, you will need:

- IT proficiency including MS Office, Excel, Outlook
- Previous experience in a role that provides policy, fraud or risk advice
- Relevant qualifications/education
- Ability to interpret policy and legislation
- Previous experience in Government highly desirable
