**The Organisation**:
A leading Queensland government department is currently recruiting for a Procurement and Contracts Officer (A06). You will be working for an organisation that is supported by a strong management team with a clear vision. The organisation has a close-knit team where people work well together, and have an incredibly positive and supportive attitude. You will be reporting to a Director who understands the requirements and expectations of this role and will be able to provide exceptional support while you are getting your head around things. You will **not be working excessive hours.** This role is initially a temporary position for 6 months and has the potential to be extended.

**The Position**:
This role will ultimately require you to take ownership of the procurement and contracts management activities. You will be responsible for:

- Renewing and extending contracts with existing suppliers
- Reviewing contracts around performance, terms, dollars and value
- Analysis and reporting of key contracts
- Documentation management to ensure an effective compliance trail
- Communicating directly with suppliers
- Managing purchase order requisitions

**Your Profile**:
To truly succeed in this varied role, you will be able to demonstrate true competencies in the following areas:

- Ability to read, review and interpret supplier contracts
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills coupled with exceptional communication skills
- A good understanding of the procurement function
- Good resilience as you will be interfacing with many different stakeholders and building and nurturing strong relationships
- Experience using SAP will be helpful or any large ERP system
- Strong Excel skills to support some analysis work will be advantageous

**_Ideally, you will have procurement experience within the Queensland State Government. _**
