**About the Role**
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely payment of staff in accordance with Council Policy, Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), Awards and other legislation. The incumbent is accountable for providing high level payroll advice to staff, management and Manager Finance.
The position incumbent will be expected to:

- Manage payroll staff ensuring all duties are completed on time and to a high standard
- Work closely with the Organisation Development Branch
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, certificates and reconciliation’s in a timely manner
- Calculate and pay all officers and deduction recipients
- Compose and sign memos to internal and external parties on behalf on Council
- Accountable for Council meeting all its statutory obligations in respect of the provision of payroll and related services

Skills & Experience
- Experience with the payroll data capture and development of reports for payroll analysis
- Knowledge of practices related to budgeting procedures
- An understanding of the Local Authorities Superannuation Act for defined benefits and contributory schemes
- Thorough understanding of the taxation requirements as it relates to PAYG
- Understanding of payroll requirements under the WorkCover Act
