Job Description

The Operations Team Leader is responsible for leading a diverse team of operators and trade disciplines to ensure effective and efficient execution of planned and unplanned maintenance and production activities which successfully meet operational plans.

The Operations Team Leader leads by example in creating an inspiring, diverse and inclusive team with a strong safety culture while driving continuous improvement, product quality and operating disciplines.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and motivate your team to work cohesively to safely execute daily and weekly tasks, meeting compliance to achieve optimal outcomes for both maintenance and production units.- Ensure the competency of individual team members meets relevant role requirements to effectively and safely perform responsibilities.- Provide leadership for reporting and investigation of events and hazards in a timely and accurate manner.- Coach and mentor team members to improve the overall effectiveness of the team, create an inclusive culture that values and encourages diversity of thought and promotes team over individual.- Set expectations, provide feedback, and hold people accountable for their actions and responsibilities in meeting those expectations.- Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders including Engineering and Planning to support quality delivery, fostering an environment continuous feedback and improvement opportunities.- Ensure your team’s compliance with work instructions, policies, procedures and operating conditions and limits.- Provide clear work instruction to all responsible team members to ensure key performance and safety objectives are met.- Work with all key stakeholders to ensure you and your team are prepared for start-up, shut down and continual operation of the plant.- Undertake regular performance reviews (informal and formal), ensuring issues or concerns are resolved / managed in a timely manner and in line with process and procedures.- Lead your team in resolving issues where possible. Escalate to the relevant stakeholders to minimize impact when necessary.- Develop and implement solutions to improve safety, overall plant reliability, performance and output.- Solve problems to root cause and implement lasting solutions.

Work Experience Requirements- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a complex chemical manufacturing or industrial environment coupled with relevant experience in a leadership role in a similar environment- Demonstrated dedication to safety with the ability to lead by example and drive a strong safety culture.- Demonstrated understanding of plant wide operations- Ability to multitask, problem solving and manage conflicting priorities- Experience in implementing and driving change initiatives as required.- Demonstrated experience in leading a diverse team in changing environments.- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written coupled with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.- Familiarity with DCS and PLC systems, a range of industrial equipment including kilns, ball mills, belt filters, centrifuge and boilers

Education / Qualification Requirements- Australian trade certification (Fitter or Electrical and Instrumentation with accompanying A Grade electrical license) with relevant experience, or,- Certificate III in Processing Plant Operations or similar with relevant experience.- Certificate IV in Frontline Management (highly regarded).- Working at Heights and Confined Space ticket.
