Disability Support Worker with Allied Health

St Lucia, Australia Livewell Care Services Full time

Livewell Care Services is a growing NDIS provider looking at hiring a support worker with allied health assistance experience to join their team. We are looking for an engaged **female** support worker to join a small team to help in caring for a 2 year old girl. She has a global developmental delay but has a few words and communicates via gestures and key sign words. She is a very calm and introverted girl.

The family and an allied health team will provide training to implement a tailored Speech, OT, and physio, and exercise program in the home and to meet her goals.

Location: St Lucia

Preferred date: Monday or Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm (flexible)

Hours: 2-3 hours a week work (more shifts available in Jan)

**Core responsibilities**:

- Help with carrying out a home program of exercises designed by our therapy team (OT, Speech, Physio)
- Assistance with self-care activities: eating, bathing, dressing, toileting
- Help her develop her social and communication skills at home and in the community

**Potential duties**:

- Community supports
- Engaged in therapy sessions

**Essential requirements**:

- Non-smoker
- _**Special needs education, allied health background, or allied health (speech/OT) student with experience**_
- _**Prior experience in a care role or working with toddlers/children**_
- Current police check
- NDIS workers screen check
- Blue card,
- COVID vaccination
- Current first aid and CPR certificate
- Valid Drivers' licence
- Patience, reliable, flexible, caring, empathetic, good communication skills and initiative

**Ideal not essential**:

- Exposure to alternative nonverbal communication programs and devices: Alternative communication (PODD), Key word signs
- Open driver’s license
- Teaching swimming to kids

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $30.95 - $36.95 per hour
