Position Overview:
As a Dairy Herd Technician, you will play a vital role in the daily management and care of our dairy herd. Your expertise and dedication will ensure the well-being and productivity of our cattle, as well as contribute to the continued success of our dairy production. This role requires a strong background in dairy farming, hands-on experience, and a passion for working with animals and supporting sustainable agriculture. The role is full time and ongoing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Animal Care and Health: Monitor the health and well-being of the dairy herd, identifying any signs of illness or distress. Administer routine health treatments, vaccinations, and medications as needed. Collaborate with veterinarians when necessary to address any health concerns.
- Milking Operations: Perform milking duties using modern milking equipment and techniques. Ensure milking procedures are hygienic, efficient, and in line with industry best practices.
- Feeding and Nutrition: Assist in preparing and delivering appropriate feed rations to the herd. Monitor feed consumption and adjust as required to meet the nutritional needs of different cattle groups.
- Herd Management: Assist in the management of the herd, including monitoring reproduction, calving, and maintaining accurate records of individual animals. Collaborate with the team to implement breeding strategies and genetic improvement programs.
- Housing and Facilities: Ensure clean and well-maintained housing facilities for the cattle. Monitor and manage the herd's living conditions to ensure optimal comfort and cleanliness.
- Data Collection: Collect and record data related to milk production, animal health, and other relevant metrics. Maintain accurate records for analysis and reporting.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of milking equipment, feeding systems, and other farm machinery. Report any maintenance issues promptly for repairs.
- Quality Control: Contribute to quality control efforts by assisting in the monitoring of milk quality and hygiene standards. Uphold the highest standards of product quality and safety.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- At least 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in dairy farming.
- At a minimum, we expect to see a highly relevant Diploma or agreed alternative
- Thorough understanding of dairy herd management, health, and nutrition.
- Knowledge of milking procedures and equipment operation.
- Strong record-keeping skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a passion for animal welfare.
- Unrestricted working rights in Australia.

**Remuneration**:
**Salary**: Negotiable in the range of $70,000 to $75,000 plus superannuation per annum, commensurate with experience.
