**About the role**

The Medical Emergency Response (MER) Consultant contributes to the provision of professional medical services in responding to acute clinical and mental state deterioration, in accordance with Hospital and Department policies. In addition, the MER Consultant supports operational, quality and clinical activities that aim to prevent clinical deterioration. The incumbent will be expected to participate in the Medical Emergency Response Service, within the Critical Care and Perioperative Program, and within the clinical governance framework of a multidisciplinary approach in CALHN. The Staff Specialist will provide clinical supervision to trainee medical officers and will take part in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities. There will also be opportunities to pursue clinical and basic research within the unit.

**Qualifications**
- Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care, Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australasian College of Emergency Medicine or an equivalent specialist qualification that is registrable with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Specialist in Intensive Care, Medicine, Surgery or Emergency Medicine.

**Essential Requirements**:

- Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
- Working with Children Check
