Continuing its tradition for excellence in the education of girls, Melbourne Girls Grammar is seeking an accomplished, innovative, and engaging Conductor of Orchestra to join the collaborative team in our Music Faculty. This position is responsible for music selection and conducting for the Melbourne Girls Grammar Orchestra. There is a regular Tuesday afternoon rehearsal (3:30pm - 5.00pm, with an additional hour of preparation and planning time) as well as ad hoc performances scheduled well in advance.

The Melbourne Girls Grammar Orchestra is the School’s premier instrumental ensemble. The Orchestra allows students to demonstrate their exceptional musicianship alongside their most outstanding peers and provides a goal to work towards for younger students developing their skills and playing in other ensembles. The Conductor of Orchestra is the leader of this Orchestra, setting the music and vision for the various performances the Orchestra presents. This role works to develop and showcase the ensemble skills of the student musicians at MGGS.

Applicants should have experience conducting and prior experience with school or junior orchestras will be considered favourably. MGGS seeks educators with an inclusive and a strengths-based approach to program leadership and development. You will demonstrate high level musicianship and people skills as well as organisation and attention to detail.
