**SC5 **Demonstrate a proven ability to monitor student achievement and to provide reports to the Instrumental Coordinator which keeps them regularly and fully informed of students’ progress.

**Role**:
Attendance during term breaks maybe required and leave purchase allowance will be paid for this time.

The applicant is required to teach woodwind and other percussion instruments in individual and group classes.
- The successful applicant will be a brass specialist and able to teach and demonstrate drums at all levels from beginning to VCE and be versed in a range of styles, contemporary and traditional.
- The College requires all instrumental music teachers to demonstrate a high level of competency in teaching instruments in groups.
- The position may also involve rehearsal and direction of senior and/or junior ensembles as directed and assist with brass sections of the school ensembles.
- Instrumental music teachers will work with the Instrumental Music Coordinator to coordinate the allocation of students to instrumental music classes and oversee the maintenance, repair, purchase and replacement of relevant equipment.

The School has a large and active program of ensembles and performances and attendance at concerts and rehearsals outside school hours is expected.
- A knowledge of using a recording studio.

Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide professional student support services under the direction of the Instrumental Music Coordinator.
- Provide strategic advice on specific support services and their impact on students, school curriculum and services.
- Manage the use of and access to school resource and reference material.
- Manage the use and maintenance of equipment within a work area.
- Ensure security is maintained within a work area.
- Manage procedures relating to the hiring of school buildings and equipment in accordance with school policy.
- Manage procedures relating to the maintenance of specialist collections, e.g. library resource material and collections.
- Evaluate and select equipment and materials and make recommendations to senior management.
- Develop procedures relating to the use and maintenance of equipment and materials.
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials.
