**Disabilities Services Officer - Dandenong Vic**

Kogan People Solutions are working with a respected Supported Residential Services provider, which prides itself on engaging with compassionate skilled people who are competent in all areas of disabilities and aged care.

They now seek a Disabilities Services Officer (DSO) to be based at their Dandenong Vic residence.

As their new DSO, you will provide person-centred support to individuals with disabilities, empowering them to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Your role will involve promoting inclusion, and fostering a supportive environment that respects the rights and dignity of each participant. Your responsibilities will encompass, promoting independence and community inclusion, fostering interpersonal relationships, and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans. The role is full time and ongoing.

Role is based in Dandenong Vic

**Salary **- highly competitive salary in the range $70k to $75k plus superannuation per annum will be offered to the successful applicant.

**Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to**:

- Facilitate community inclusion activities and outings to enhance social participation.
- Positive Behaviour Support
- Implement and adhere to Positive Behaviour Support Plans for individuals with challenging behaviours. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a holistic approach to support.
- Independence and Skill Building - Foster independence by teaching life skills and encouraging self-reliance. Provide guidance and support for individuals to achieve their personal goals.
- Interpersonal Relationship - Establish and maintain positive and respectful relationships with the individuals you support. Encourage social interactions and facilitate connections with their communities.
- Adaptability and Learning - Be willing to adapt your approach to meet the unique needs of each individual. Continuously update your knowledge and skills related to disability support, mental health, and behaviour management.
- Documentation and Reporting - Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of support provided and behavioural observations. Report any concerns or incidents to the Disability Support Services Manager.
- Compliance and Safety - Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations and follow safety protocols. Follow all safe work practices, wear necessary PPE, participate in all safety inductions, carefully follow equipment supplier instructions.
- Possess a highly relevant Diploma (or agreed alternative)
- Offer at least 2 years verifiable experience in this area
- Have excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, participants and families
- Be able to read and record information and maintain confidentiality
- Show empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt to varying needs and situations.
- Have an understanding of disability rights, advocacy, and legislation.
- Have (or willing to obtain) working with Children Card & NDIS Screening Card, First Aid and or CPR certification
