Western Health is recruiting to Maternity Leave for the period of April 2024 to Feb 2025 for an Accredited Advanced Trainee in Nephrology position. Accreditation will be granted for existing trainees in the Nephrology training program or if people have been successful at interview and accepted onto the Victorian training program but were unmatched via PMCV.

Excellent experience in Acute Kidney Injury and Chronic Kidney Disease management, Obstetric Medicine and Dialysis Therapies in a rapidly growing dialysis hub with a friendly atmosphere, servicing a catchment of close to 1 million people.

The Advanced trainees (5 in the service) work closely with the FRACP Basic Trainees and Residents (year 2+) to deliver inpatient and outpatient renal care to the culturally diverse community located within the catchment. Hours of work are 86hrs per fortnight.

Advanced Trainees alternate between Footscray inpatients and referrals, Sunshine inpatients and referrals and Outpatient and Dialysis roles every 2 months. The Advanced Trainee is also on-call 1 in 5 weekdays and weekends with the support of the ward consultant if required after hours. Weekly education meetings are held for the junior staff within the department.
Participation in unit audit and research activities and the ANZSN congress or an international conference is encouraged.
